Front row center, I was! (After lining up from 8.30 am!!) I went to this show to see The Academy Is...
They were amazing - period!
I'm growing quite tired of hearing the negative reviews of the band (from this tour). I can understand that their music might not appeal to the average Sheryl Crow fan, but they should be commended for their energy and frontman William Beckett's overwhelming charisma. As someone who always keeps her composure, I have to say they definitely brought out the screaming fan girl in me.
I was excited to see them live, even though they were one of the earlier opening acts and had a slightly shorter set list, as a fairly new TAI fan.
Their set list was great, William Beckett over exceeded his role as frontman talking to the crowd more than any of the other opening acts and really got the crowd excited for Sheryl Crow (even though they had hourssss ahead of them!).
When you are buying a ticket to an all-day event with various acts, you have to be ready to listen to genres of music that you aren't used to. I listened with an open mind to the two acts before TAI and really enjoyed myself.
Anyway, I left the GA floor right after TAI because it was entirely too hot and crowded. There was a rude crazy woman standing next to me, but the two odd hours I was in that pit were worth it for TAI.
He has a really cute smile too - don't miss this band if you get the chance to see them! The drummer is unbelievably hot!
